The municipality was able to correct a malfunction in the town hall’s heating regulation system thanks to the NRClick Scan energy metering tool.
Cutting your gas bill by 20% ... now that’s a tantalising thought! A mission that was far from impossible for the town of Ganshoren. After enlisting the help of Sibelga’s NRClick Scan service, the municipality has significantly cut the gas consumption of its town hall with direct savings of around € 1 500/year and is pursuing its efforts!
When appearances are deceptive
A boiler in good working order with an acceptable thermal performance… Is everything OK, then? In theory, yes! However… In 2014, an energy audit performed by Sibelga’s NRClick Scan team revealed a huge anomaly: “The boiler regulation system wasn’t actually working, ” remembers Cédric Buggenhout from the Ganshoren Public Works Department.
And without regulation, the heating temperature wasn’t adapted to the municipality’s working hours. The heating was on continuously at weekends and outside office hours! A lot of energy was being wasted.
A direct saving of € 1,500/annum
Thanks to the audit report drawn up by Sibelga on the basis of data collated in NRClick Scan, the municipality of Ganshoren was able to have the heating regulation fixed. Today, the challenge is to find the right balance between the lowest possible energy consumption and occupant comfort.
“It’s a tool that has shown its worth and deserves to be used! ”
“Following adjustments to ensure occupant comfort, on average, the municipality made a saving of around 20% between October 2015 and January 2016, working out at around €1,500 a year,” explains Stéphane Godfrind, head of the NRClick Scan service.
Cédric Buggenhout is convinced of the utility of NRClick Scan: “It’s a tool that has shown its worth and deserves to be used! ”
NRClick Scan is an energy metering tool, which municipalities can use to monitor their electricity, gas and water consumption. Each month, we take you to a Brussels municipality to discover the savings made by using this tool.
