The Brussels Government has entrusted Sibelga with managing the roll out of electric charging stations on public highways across the Brussels-Capital Region.
As part of the ChargyClick programme, the Brussels Government has committed to rolling out 22,000 public charging points by 2035.
Among these installations, the Region has entrusted Sibelga with the task of coordinating the deployment of 11,000 charging points on public highways. A further 11,000 points will also be installed on semi-public land by other players.
Brussels already enjoying 3,500 public charging points
In 2022, almost 500 charging points were installed in collaboration with Brussels Environment, Brussels Mobility, Brugel, the VUB and the office of the Minister for Mobility. And that was just the beginning.
In 2023, EnergyVision installed over 1,230 additional charging points for Sibelga.
In 2024, Total Energies installed 452 charging points across the Region.
In June 2025, Brussels reached the milestone of 3,500 charging points installed as part of the ChargyClick programme. 300 additional charging points will enhance this network even further in October 2025.

A constantly growing network
The Region is striving to ensure as many people as possible have access to a charging station. In 2023, the Region already had one charging station every 250 metres.
But 2025 has seen Brussels reach a whole new level. Every single resident in the city now has a charging station less than 150 metres away from their home.
Targeted developments
The municipalities have been heavily involved in choosing where to place these stations, due to their in-depth knowledge of the area.
In collaboration with Brussels Environment and the VUB, Sibelga has also been constantly analysing the usage data of the existing stations to adapt the supply to residents' needs in each district and in line with the changing demand.
Keeping up the good work
The data shows growing demand and the need to increase the number of charging points. As a result, it is vital we keep up the efforts to install and adapt the network of on-street charging stations.
Further charging station lots will therefore be launched in the coming years. These will gradually complete the network of charging stations installed in Brussels.
At the same time, innovative solutions are also being put in place, including:
- charging stations installed on public lamp posts;
- stations fitted with solar panels;
- improved accessibility of charging stations for people with disabilities.
Reducing transport-related CO2 emissions by 75%
This ambitious deployment is part of the Region's ongoing efforts to build a more sustainable future.
In June 2023, the Brussels Government adopted the 2025-2035 milestones for its low-emission zone. These plan for most vehicles:
- a phase-out of diesel in 2030;
- a phase-out of petrol, LPG and CNG in 2035.
This significant transformation to Brussels' vehicles should allow us to:
- Avoid 110 premature deaths linked to air pollution every year;
- Reduce transport-related CO2 emissions by 75% by 2030.
