The energy transfer document does not serve to communicate the meter readings to your energy supplier. Contact your supplier by phone at the time of your move.

Don't throw away the energy transfer document! It can be useful as evidence in the event of a meter reading dispute.

Before you leave your home
Report the meter readings to your energy supplier within 7 days of your move. Your supplier will prepare and invoice a final calculation on that basis.

Before you move into your new home
Submit your meter readings to the energy supplier that you have chosen for your new address no later than on the day you move.

A tip: communicate your consumption readings promptly

You are advised to communicate the readings from your old home within 7 days of your move.

Informing your supplier promptly will avoid you having to pay for:

  • the consumption of the new occupant of your old address
  • the consumption of the previous occupant of your current home.

Keep this timeframe in mind when you move

Moving home is an opportunity to check which energy supplier is the most advantageous. Compare the offers of gas and electricity suppliers in Brussels with the Brusim comparison tool.
