The Sibelga partners are the 19 communes of the Brussels Capital Region and the private operator Electrabel.
The liberalisation of the energy market involved a thorough review of the agreements between Electrabel and the communes within Sibelga. This is why the partners decided to adapt the intermunicipal company’s existing contract to achieve a new balance between the communes and Electrabel.
As from the establishment of Sibelga in 2003, its capital was owned equally by the 19 communes (50%) and Electrabel (50%).
Since 31 December 2006, the communes have held 70% of the capital.
Since 31 December 2012, the communes own 100% of the capital of Sibelga.
