A second River Cleanup Challenge passed with flying colours

After the success of the first edition in 2024, our teams came back for another round of the River Cleanup Challenge that proved to be just as inspiring... and even bigger than last time!

A collective challenge for the benefit of the environment

The River Cleanup Challenge is a movement that was born on social media, led by the non-profit organisation, River Cleanup. It aims to raise awareness of the problem of waste in our rivers, canals and cities through practical and accessible initiatives. A simple yet effective gesture: collecting waste during your lunch break, just a stone's throw from your workplace.

Growing participation

On Tuesday 17 June, around fifty colleagues joined in the initiative along the canal, just opposite Sibelga's building on Quai des Usines. The group included both some new faces and regulars, creating a friendly atmosphere, despite the heat. What did this amazing level of participation achieve? 63.6 kg of waste collected, not including several bulky items that were difficult to weigh. Proof that, even in just a few minutes, every action can make a difference for the environment.

A CEO dedicated to the cause

After getting involved in last year's event, Sibelga's CEO Inne Mertens once again rolled up her sleeves alongside the rest of the team. A practical way of embodying Sibelga's commitment to the environment, and demonstrating that we can also support the transition through local, tangible actions.
