CIRED 2025: Sibelga at the forefront of innovation
From 16 to 20 June, Sibelga took part in CIRED 2025 in Geneva, the leading event in the electricity distribution sector. Our teams presented several practical and innovative projects, resulting from our research carried out in the field.
The energy transition is also playing out in our technical choices. Smarter networks, optimised consumption, new technology: these are the levers that the network operators can act on in practice.
Solutions for the networks of tomorrow
Our Technology Center, Sibelga Academy and Market Evolution teams sprung into action to make Brussels' voice heard in discussions on the technical challenges of the future. On the schedule:
• A proof of concept for testing congestion management on low-voltage networks via smart systems (HEMS) developed by Sibelga.
• Several studies based on simulations: manual phase management, battery usage, managing PV inverters… so many practical options to improve capacity on the network.
This research has been carried out in collaboration with Fluvius, Ores, Resa and Laborelec.
A low-impact trip
Because every action makes a difference, the delegation from Sibelga also reconsidered how they would travel to Geneva. As a result:
• The delegation shared two 100% electric vehicles from our green fleet;
• Part of the team made the return journey on the train.
Their carbon footprint? Approximately 70 kg of CO₂, which is 18 times less than an equivalent trip on a plane.
A clear ambition: making energy smarter
Our presence at CIRED reflects Sibelga's commitment to transforming ideas into concrete actions, anticipating the challenges on the network, and supporting the energy transition in line with urban realities as much as possible.
