1. Have a smart meter installed
A smart meter is essential to enable your supplier to access your consumption data remotely (withdrawal/injection). If you still have a traditional meter, you can have it replaced with a smart meter free of charge. Please note that if any additional work is required, this will be subject to a fee.
2. Activate remote readings
By default, the remote reading of your data is not enabled in Brussels, except in certain specific cases. You therefore need to enable this feature yourself. To do this, download your My Sibelga app, which will allow you to track your energy consumption. You ‘ll be able to activate it there.
3. Ask your supplier
After submitting the request, wait until the next day, then check via the My Sibelga app that remote reading has been activated. Then contact your supplier to request a dynamic rate or monthly billing based on your actual consumption.
Good to knowIf you have had your meter replaced or a new smart meter installed, it can take up to 2 weeks for it to be recognised as a smart meter in our systems. |
Metering regimes
If remote reading has been enabled, we automatically send your consumption data to your energy supplier. This data is shared according to the metering regime that matches your situation:
- R1 of R3 regime for monthly billing based on your actual consumption;
- R3 regime for a dynamic rate.
